The Stencil carries the image that is to be marked on to the metal surface. There are now 4 different types of stencil available:

For the first time ever, a high quality disposable stencil can be made when it is required for use. Using a Thermal stencil paper, a PC and a thermal printer, the stencils are produced on 4" wide material allowing variable character height, graphics and logos, serial numbering, bar codes. Printers with up to 600 dpi can be used for very high quality stencils where small text or high quality graphics are required. Suitable for oxide marking and light etch marking applications, the Pod's are transforming variable part marking using the electrochemical marking process. Print on Demand stencils are used for 2D Data Matrix marking applications.
P-touch stencil tapes
These tapes, used in conjunction with the P-Touch labelling systems, can produce disposable high resolution (360dpi) stencils. Ideal for producing constantly changing information such as serial numbers / batch numbers, date codes, logos and graphics.
Semi-permanent photographically produced stencils
These are made by UMS to exact artwork requirements. This type of stencil is used for long production runs, or for artworks with graphics or logos. This type of stencil is very durable and can be supplied in many formats.
Die Impression Stencil Paper
This is used for short batch runs, or when marking variable information onto the component, such as serial numbers. Die impression paper is used in a typewriter or dot matrix printer. Print on Demand stencils are produced at a much higher resolution.
